Harrogate Borough Council is a large authority consisting of 40 electoral wards serving both highly populated urban and rural areas. Harrogate Borough Council supports the Returning Officer in delivering the full range of national and local elections and referendums across the District, running 149 polling stations and dealing with over 125,000 electors, of which 26,000 have postal votes. It also supports the Electoral Registration Officer in running the annual canvass of 76,000 households and delivering year round voter registration and absent voting work.(Based upon two polls - NYCC & PCC).
