Work description
We are interested in studying the diversity of dung beetles across the Royal Parks and wish to involve the local community in this research. We are looking to commission an entomologist with experience in volunteer management, public engagement, and dung beetle taxonomy to facilitate this project.
Firstly, we will organise 12 survey days between March - October 2023, in which the commissioned entomologist will manage a group of volunteers to set pitfall traps, search the park for dung beetles, and engage with members of the public about the research project. This will include both weekday and weekends.
Secondly, the entomologist will run two day-long dung beetle identification courses for volunteers involved in the project. These will be spread throughout the year.
Thirdly, the entomologist will identify all dung beetle specimens to species level using the most up to date taxonomic references and provide a survey report.
Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
