Description

Uttlesford District Council are seeking to appoint a reliable contractor for their Electrical Works contract. The scope of the Works under this Contract comprises the following Workstreams; Reactive Electrical Works and Major Works generally comprising Electrical Rewiring of dwellings including any design, installation, construction, repairs, maintenance, renewals, reinstatement or replacement Works or Works of improvement in respect of Electrical Rewiring and associated works ordered in accordance with the provisions of the Contract which have been 'packaged' into a pre-planned programme of works. The District of Uttlesford is a predominantly rural district in North West Essex comprising the main towns of Saffron Walden, Great Dunmow, Stansted Mountfitchet and Thaxted, with 56 parishes. It is geographically the largest district in Essex being some 20 miles long by 15 miles wide. The Council is responsible for approximately 3,000 homes located throughout the towns and villages of Uttlesford. The stock comprises of approximately the following; •1350 houses and maisonettes, •780 flats and •800 bungalows. These homes are spread across the district and are predominantly typical 1950’s and 1960’s local authority dwellings. Sheltered accommodation makes up around 450 of the overall properties in management. No buildings are in in excess of three storeys. There may be occasion to carry out some Works for non-domestic Council property, such as the Council Offices at London Road, Saffron Walden and other satellite depots within the District. The proposed contract will be for an initial term of approximately 5 years, commencing 1 April 2016 (or shortly thereafter) and terminating on 31 March 2021. There is an option to extend by up to two further years. Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
