Description
The Road User Compliance Team is one of several teams making up the National Delivery Group within the National Highways Road Safety Division, in the Safety, Engineering and Standards (SES) Directorate. The Group's purpose is to support improvements in road user safety and the management of road safety initiatives across National Highways. This commission continues the work led by the Compliance Team during in FY 24/25 which included: - Development and launch of a survey instrument to better understand the reasons for breakdowns (ECHO). An analysis dashboard was developed, and the results are informing our approach to influencing road user behaviour. Since the survey went live in September 2024 we have received c. 2100 responses. - Creation and publication of new Breakdown Guidance to encourage safer behaviours in a breakdown situation. (Link: National Highways 'Driving on motorways' web page). - Creation and publication of new Dashboard Warning Light Guidance to correct misconceptions around the actions to take when a warning light appears in the vehicle.
