Description
DECC was looking for a contractor or consortium to undertake an evaluation of the UK Climate Investments (UKCI) pilot programme. On 24 March the Secretary of State for DECC announced a new joint venture with the UK Green Investment Bank (GIB), UK Climate Investments, to assist in the investment of the UK’s International Climate Fund (ICF). The Pilot was developed in response to the urgent need to scale-up low-carbon investment to keep the world on a 2 degree pathway. The UK Green Investment Bank has a successful track record of mobilising private investment into the UK’s green infrastructure and economy, and DECC intends to draw on this expertise to maximise the impact and effectiveness of UK climate finance. DECC has committed £200m to leverage the GIB’s commercial and green discipline for the benefit of the deployment of climate finance internationally. Due to the novel and innovative nature of the Pilot, and the importance of the decisions being faced by DECC at the end of the Pilot, an evaluation is essential.
