## Description

Our research group at The University of Manchester requires a high precision electron beam welding and surface modification instrument\. This single unit will be able to undertake welding, joining processes, drilling, material-removing processes, engraving, material modification and refining\. The range of applications include, but are not limited to the ability to: join dissimilar metals, join extremely thin materials to thick \(10 μm to 10 mm\), repair/process components/materials based on refractory alloys \(Ti and Zr\), additive manufacturing of unique biomedical and MEMS \(microelectromechanical systems\), hermetic sealing/processing of multi-material systems, joining of metallic components to polymeric/ceramic\.
