## Description

The University of Birmingham invites tenders for supply of a spectrum analyser\. The frequency range of the RF input should cover 1MHz-25 GHz\. A high sensitivity for phase noise measurements is required; when the carrier frequency is 10 GHz, the offset frequency is 1 kHz, the SSB phase noise should be better than -125 dBc\(1Hz\); when the carrier frequency is 1 GHz, the offset frequency is 10 kHz, the SSB phase noise should be better than -140 dBc\(1Hz\)\. The AM noise sensitivity should be better than -145 dBc\(1Hz\) when the RF input frequency is between 100 MHz and 1 GHz for 1 kHz offset frequency\. The measurement speed should be better than 10s when span 1 Hz to 1 MHz with the bandwidth in 10% of offset, better than 0\.05s when span 1 kHz to 1 MHz with the bandwidth in 10% of offset\. It should be able to measure Allan variance\. The measurement range should cover 100ns to 1 000 000s\. Overall budget for this item is up to ?67,000 excluding VAT\. This project may be funded by the European Regional Development Fund \(ERDF\) or; - European Structural and Investment Fund \(ESIF\) or; - Research Councils UK \(RCUK\), the strategic partnership of the UK's seven Research Councils\.
