## Description

Leicestershire County Council \(the Council\) currently operates 2 waste transfer stations that handle approximately 40 000 tonnes of waste per annum\. The Council also owns one additional waste transfer station handling approximately 35 000 tonnes of waste per annum with the operation \(including bulk haulage\) currently contracted out to a third party supplier\. It is expected that in the short term the tonnage required to be hauled shall be similar to that arising from the 2 Council operated waste transfer stations\. However, from the early 2020's this 40 000 tonnes could increase or decrease with initial estimates of haulage capacity requirements ranging from 12 000 to 110 000 tonnes per annum\. Delivery point locations are also expected to change\. The potential total contract value could therefore vary from between 5 000 000 GBP to 31 000 000 GBP over the potential 11 year period\. Suppliers will be expected to bulk haul waste from any waste transfer station, or similar facility where waste bulking can occur, where waste arising from the Council or the waste collection authorities activities is delivered to\. Bids will be evaluated based on the anticipated tonnage expected to be required to be bulk hauled; the current and potential future locations of waste transfer stations as well as the current and potential future locations of the disposal/treatment/recycling sites where waste may need to be delivered to during the contract term\.
