The LCN challenge will support delivery of the Clean Growth Grand Challenge, and consists of 2 phases of activity. Phase 1 is effectively an enabling phase in which the consortium will prepare a technical feasibility study of their SMR solution in preparation for regulatory scrutiny in Phase 2. Phase 2 is centred on putting the technical solution through regulatory approvals to arrive at a point where there is a clear line of sight to commercial deployment of the technology by the end of the programme. This evaluation plan covers the Phase 1 activity and the Phase 2 activity (subject to BEIS and Treasury approval).
