Invitation to tender for Executive Recruitment

Description

Somerset County Council and four local district councils (Sedgemoor, Mendip, South Somerset and Somerset West & Taunton) are progressing towards becoming a Single Unitary Authority. The Structural Change order that will create the legal basis for the new council in Somerset has been laid before Parliament. Once it approved it will be law that a new single unitary council - Somerset Council - will be responsible for providing both county and district council services from 1st April 2023. Included within this Structural Change Order is the intention to use the county council as the corporate body for the unitary council - known as a "continuing authority". As such Somerset County Council is seeing responses to this request from Applicants to award a contract to attract applicants for the post of Chief Executive of the new Authority.
