Work description
The Knowledge Hub is a secure, centrally managed collaboration platform developed in 2017 by Police Digital Service (PDS) to support UK law enforcement and its partners in sharing information, coordinating operations/programs or work, and driving digital transformation across the UK policing landscape. The platform provides a single, trusted environment for secure communication, document management, group collaboration, and the dissemination of best practice, supporting content classified up to OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE. It serves over 60,000 registered users spanning all 43 Home Office police forces, the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC), the National Crime Agency (NCA), the College of Policing, specialist units such as Regional Organised Crime Units and Firearms teams, and wider public sector partners including the Home Office, Ministry of Justice, and Crown Prosecution Service.
In a national policing context, where the secure and timely exchange of sensitive information is operationally critical, the Knowledge Hub provides an indispensable capability that no existing force-level system can replicate at scale. It directly enables three priorities of the National Policing Digital Strategy - empowering officers and staff through digital tools, embedding a whole-public-system approach, and strengthening private sector partnerships - making it a foundational component of the national policing digital estate.
