Work description

The objective is to take forward the great work undertaken during the MS4 Preliminary/Outline Design phase, and the associated knowledge and learning, forward to develop the preliminary design for the most challenging category of structure on the project, the Super Portal Gantry.

The ability to maintain the demonstrable first principles of the architectural solution will ensure consistency of form and continuity of the road user experience throughout the Lower Thames Crossing corridor.

In addition, other key objectives as follows:- - Derisk the delivery schedule by working closely with all key stakeholders to ensure alignment of timescales is completely clear. - Develop a very robust scope of works for the wider family of structures and capture the specific design requirements for Lower Thames Crossing. E.g. DCO constraints, verge widths, VRS considerations, User Charging requirements, operational requirements. - To gain clarity of the approvals required during the design development process. E.g. PTSG, SES AIP discussions - Futureproofing - Making sure that the solutions developed are suitable/scalable for the future needs of the corridor.
