The National Infrastructure Strategy committed government to producing an overarching policy paper on economic regulation (covering the energy, water and telecoms markets), due to be published in early 2022. A key commitment in the policy paper is that government will conduct a review of economic regulators' duties in 2022. To inform this review, we are now commissioning an initial analytical review of economic regulators' duties. The findings of this initial review will also inform a forthcoming consultation on economic regulation in 2022.
