Blue Badge Independent Mobility Assessments 2023-2027

In 2019 the DfT amended the legislation which underpins the Blue Badge scheme widening the scope from physical disability to both physical and non-physical disabilities. The changes were supported with updated non statutory guidance for local authorities in England. In line with the changes a range of expert assessors are used by Cornwall Council to decide applications which are eligible 'subject to further assessment'. This contract relates specifically to the assessment of applicants with physical walking disabilities only. For clarity within the scope of this contract, these assessments will be referred to as Independent Mobility Assessments (IMA).
