Work description
There is currently no qualification in traffic medicine. Recognising this, the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) developed a course leading to a certificate in traffic medicine and the first course was held in March 2015.
The course covers: • Driving Standards • Driver Psychology and behaviour • The impact of medical conditions on varying elements of the driving task • Driver Assessment • Cognitive assessment techniques and their interpretation in relation to driving The course covers every aspect of the work provided by the medical advisors in Drivers Medical Casework. Holding this certificate would provide MAs with a highly credible qualification in the subject they are dealing with on a daily basis. When representing the Agency at court or other external meetings, holding such a qualification provides much greater visibility, credibility and significance.
