Description
BFI is seeking to commission an evaluation of its Locked Box initiative to help determine if the initiative is delivering the expected outcomes of: o UK producers, writers and directors benefitting from their film's success; o Revenue from successful BFI-backed films being invested directly into the British film industry; and o Viable and sustainable businesses with reduced dependency on the BFI Film Fund and other public funds. An evaluation is expected provide a full, descriptive account of BFI funded feature film receipts collected into BFI Locked Boxes and filmmaker requests to access funding through the initiative since launch, taking into consideration the ways in which the scheme has developed over time; analysis of the initiative, interrogating the way the scheme is structured and delivered and linking performance to the achievement of Locked Box goals; and finally, an evaluation weighing all the descriptive and analytical evidence to determine whether or not BFI Locked Box is the most effective means of achieving these goals compared with alternative approaches. The evaluation is expected to utilise information provided by BFI Locked Box records, filmmaker surveys and case studies and trade association consultations.
