## Description

The purpose of scalp cooling is to reduce a person's hair loss during chemotherapy treatment\. By cooling the scalp, the blood flow to this area reduces meaning that less blood containing the chemotherapy drugs reaches the hair follicles\. Scalp cooling is a clinically proven treatment and an effective solution to combat chemotherapy induced alopecia\. A scalp cooling service is expected to be offered where appropriate, to patients who meet the criteria of receiving certain chemotherapy treatments, this is supported by national guidelines as well as recommended by Macmillan Cancer\.
