Within the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), Building Digital UK (BDUK) support the government's commitment to deliver full-fibre roll-out across the UK through a large and varied portfolio of programmes and projects. The Gigabit Broadband Voucher Schemes (GBVS) is part of this portfolio and supports this objective by providing micro-grants to registered suppliers who have delivered eligible gigabit capable connections to voucher beneficiaries through the deployment of new fibre.

Registered suppliers must adhere to the Scheme's Terms and Conditions and there are numerous processes in place to detect and address cases of non-compliance and fraud. The Scheme however remains at risk of not being able to recover funds from a supplier following a compliance investigation.
