Description

Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust is seeking to appoint a contractor to, build and deliver this project of Phase 2 Conservation Repairs to the roofs and structures of the East Front: Central Block, Central Block North Wing, Central Block South Wing. Additionally the roofs over the Oak Staircase and Lobby, Principal Staircase and Statue Lightwell, Long Gallery, North Pavilion, East Front Portico Floor and Ceilings above and under. It is intended that work will be largely limited to the repair of the roof structures, the recovering of roofs and associated parapet gutters, the repair of balustrades, urns and statues, the repair and renewal of rainwater goods and necessary repair and renewal of the below ground drainage. Repairs to stonework and windows will be limited to essential repairs that can be undertaken using the scaffold erected for the works. Internal repairs will be mainly but not wholly limited to the conservation of ceiling plasterwork and the repair of areas affected by water ingress and consequent rot outbreaks. A number of specialist conservators are required for items such as internal linings, finishes and components. Large and expansive temporary roofs will be required, some of which integrating public viewing access. In order to make best use of the funding available, variations could be instructed for other areas of the mansion house and stable block complex, comprising a similar nature and scope.
