Work description
Historic England is seeking to appoint a consultant to carry out a range of archaeological services on the Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings Project. It is envisaged that the archaeological consultancy services may cost around £50,000 over a five-year period, though the budget will be adapted according to circumstances and discoveries.
The Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings Project aims to restore and conserve a group of 'at risk' buildings on this unique and important industrial heritage site, including the World's first iron framed building. The Grade 1 Main Mill has huge importance in the history of architecture and engineering and is undoubtedly of international significance while the site is exceptionally rich in social, economic and technological history.
If you require to make a site visit, this should take place on 29th November.
