## Description

The Framework has appointed a principal contractor to act as managing agent in order to secure suitable contractors to deliver the full range of domestic building trades\.To be able to act as an agent for residents, the Council needed to be able to call on a range of reliable contractors across the building services spectrum\. We have to be able to offer choice to residents, and ensure that the contractors have the right skills, are affordable and are trustworthy so they can work in vulnerable peoples' homes\. Contractors must be very customer focused, flexible and accommodating of the needs of vulnerable people when working in their homes\. The Council have put a Management Service in place that recruits, selects, appoints and monitors contractors on its behalf\. All designs and specifications will be provided to the Management Service by the Council on an individual case by case basis, for the Management Service to appoint a contractor from the panel of contractors that they have recruited\. Safeguarding will be a critical feature of the Framework\. As part of the framework there will be systems in place to ensure that vulnerable residents are protected from exploitation or abuse, that necessary checks are carried out on all employees and subcontractors before they enter residents' homes, and that there is a robust training and monitoring system in place to supervise sub-contractors throughout the duration of the Framework\. The contract will be for an original 24 months with the option to extend for a further 12 months\. Services will be called off with the principle contractor as and when the occassion arises and there is no guarantee of the volume of work that will be requested\.
