Work description
Background The property, 55 Kew Green, is a Grade II listed building. Originally dating from the late 17th century, the house was enlarged in 1855. Known as Herbarium House, the property has a long association with Kew having housed Keepers of the gardens since its construction. However, in the last 30 years, with fewer staff living on site, the building has become unoccupied and fallen into disrepair.
The building is now in a poor state of repair and requires a complete overhaul to return it to a sound, stable condition. This includes all the building services and infrastructure, which are now at the end of their useful life.
Scope of Work
The poor condition of 55 Kew Green prompted a review of the asset and its potential uses. This process has concluded with the recommendation that the building be repaired and extended to provide a long term private residential let. This PQQ has been issued by RBGKEW in connection with a competitive procurement with restricted procedures under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 ('the regulations').
