Work description
Charnwood Borough Council proposes to develop an outdoor gym to broaden the appeal of Southfields Park in Loughborough. A prominent and highly accessible location has been identified for the gym, which will serve as the first part of a wider park regeneration project.
Suppliers on the ESPO Framework 115 - Outdoor Playground Equipment were engaged to design, supply, deliver and install a suitable facility based on the following requirements:
The outdoor gym should be: • Large enough to be used by groups or a number of individuals training independently; • Diverse enough to offer a wide range of possible workouts; • Appealing to, and useable by, a wide range of age groups and abilities which ideally incorporates adjustable or scalable resistance; and • Usable all year round so should be on a suitable hard wearing surface.
The proposals should be: • Submitted in the form of A0 colour drawings and perspectives that incorporates details of the location to help the council assess the suitability of proposals. • Sufficiently modular to enable adjustment by the client prior to ordering and should ideally incorporate technology to enable the facilities use to be monitored by the client e.g. via a mobile phone app. • Indicate how the site will be accessed to permit safe construction of the facility while the park remains open; and • An itemised quotation of all components based on the budget to include appropriate exercise guidance via mobile technology or signage.
