Work description

Wealden District Council (WDC) and Eastbourne Borough Council (EBC) (the Councils) are seeking to commission suitably qualified consultants to undertake a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) for their administrative areas. The purpose of this assessment is to provide a robust evidence base to support both WDC and EBC for their new Local Plans and specifically in the application of the Sequential and Exceptions tests required by the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) 2019. The key task is to provide an up-to-date evidence base on flood risk within WDC and EBC local authority areas, meeting all the national planning policy and guidance as well as best practice in undertaking SFRAs. This will include a thorough review of the existing local evidence base on flood risk and the most up-to-date national planning policy and guidance, namely the NPPF (2019), as well as reflecting updates to modelling and flood risk data. The SFRA is required to provide both WDC and EBC with various outputs to ensure that their respective Local Plans are based on a 'sound' evidence base that meets the latest national planning policy and guidance requirements. Full details are included in the document set.
