ORE Catapult plays an important role in the UK's innovation ecosystem, helping to drive UK economic growth in the offshore renewables sector. R&D activity is fundamental to innovation and growth, as reflected in the key UK policy goal to increase private investment in R&D in the UK to 2.4% of GDP by 2027. To inform policy measures and interventions aimed at supporting the contribution of the offshore renewables sector to this goal, and to understand ORE Catapult's actual and potential impact in leveraging increased private investment in R&D, it is important to identify recent trends in self-funded R&D by companies operating in the offshore renewables sector, both in the UK and globally
