Work description

Vegetation Removal and Parapet Repairs

Works will be carried out under a full road closure. The contractor will be required to work 7 days per week to enable the works to be completed in as little time as possible.

Vegetation removal will include: • Clear vegetation and silt build up in all verges. • Overhanging trees to NW of the bridge to be cut back. • Tree on formed island immediately downstream between span 5 & 6 to be removed/ killed. • Saplings to be removed from cut waters, wing walls and parapets. • Remove ivy from SE parapet.

Masonry Repairs will include: • Receive delivery of 7.6 m3 of new stone plus an additional 10% purchased by North Yorkshire County Council between Monday 22nd January and Friday 26th January 2018 • Carefully dismantle parapets as per contract drawings and set aside stones that are to be reused. Stones to be reused shall be placed back in their original position. • Rebuild parapets according to contract drawings and reset as straight as practicable using a 1 NHL 3.5 Lime: 1 Cement: 6 Sharp Sand mortar mix. • Rake out and repoint all mortar on cutwaters and repoint using a 1 NHL 3.5 Lime: 2.5 Sharp Sand: 0.5 soft sand mix. • Verges to be filled with HRA 55/10 F surf 40/60 des WTR 1 to be placed to the edge of the carriageway with 1 in 10 slope away from the parapet. • Reinstate road markings
