PSF2 - Lot 2 - Principal Culvert Inspections 2017/18

Cumbria CC has identified 25 culver sties on the highway network around the county where principal bridge inspections are required. There is 1 number culvert in the Allerdale Area, 1 number culvert in the Copeland area, 2 number culverts in the Carlisle area, 11 number culverts in the South Lakes Area and 10 number culverts in the Eden Area. A full principal bridge inspection in accordance with BD 63/07 and the management of highway structures (code of practice) is required for each culvert. For clarity, the County Council's interpretation of BD 63/07 in relation to principle bridge inspections, is that access is required at all culverts to allow an engineer to get within touching distance of all inspectable parts of a structure. No alternatives to this interpretation will be accepted.
