## Description

With co-funding from the European Regional Development Fund, the University of Sheffield is establishing a flagship national Translational Energy Research Centre \(TERC\) and is looking to procure and integrate into a mini-grid system a range of bioenergy and renewable energy generating equipment, Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage \(CCUS\), fuel cells and electrolysers\. Carbon capture is a fundamental element in the transition to low carbon economy\. Molten carbonate fuel cell \(MCFC\) technology is highly appealing: it does not only capture CO2 but also produces electrical energy at the same time\. Furthermore, the high operating temperature \(~600°C\) enables MCFC to internally process a wide spectrum of fuel and flue gases\. As part of the equipment portfolio, we are looking to procure an MCFC system capable of generating ≥ 30 kW\. The MCFC system will support our extensive current and future research activities in low carbon energy generation, integrated energy systems and hydrogen economy\. This is an EU open exercise\.
