Description
As a result of the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union, full border controls were introduced in a staged manner from January 2021, to allow transit controls, export controls and import controls for controlled goods, His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) constructed six temporary sites known as Inland Border Facilities (IBF). Four of these were in the Southeast. All of these sites were intended to be temporary facilities until permanent solutions could be provided for the checking of goods entering and leaving the UK. Four of these sites have been identified for closure in 2022; · Birmingham · Warrington · Ebbsfleet · North Weald. All sites are located on land leased from third parties so will require reinstatement in line with the relevant lease agreement and the temporary planning consent provided through a Special Development Order.
