Description
This project aims to provide the GB rail industry with guidance and evidence on suitable low adhesion driving policies, to enable a more consistent and effective approach on traction and braking under low adhesion conditions, facilitating an improvement in safe performance. The project shall identify how drivers can make best use of available on-train equipment, producing separate guidance and evidence for: •Train Operating Companies (TOCs) •Freight Operating Companies (FOCs) •On-track machine (OTM) operators To support the above, the project shall also evaluate the intended and actual use of existing in-cab low adhesion warning lights, to propose the ideal driver and vehicle response, helping inform appropriate driving policies Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement. PLEASE NOTE A supplier engagement meeting has been arranged for 11 February 2021 at 14:00 - 15:30. The meeting will be held remotely on Microsoft Teams The purpose of this meeting is to: •Provide an overview of the project •Provide interested suppliers an opportunity to discuss and better understand the research specification Suppliers should be prepared to discuss the following: •What resources and information would suppliers require, in order to deliver robust outcomes? •What are the challenges and barriers to delivering this work? What enablers would support successful delivery of the project? Suppliers wishing to attend the event must confirm the name and email address of all attendees to Tanja.Odinsen@rssb.co.uk by 14:00 10 February, you will then be issued with an invite to the meeting.
