STA - Flaxmill Voices

Recording and creation of an art installation project at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings. The research for the artwork 'Flaxmill Voices' was completed by the Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings prior to 2022 and the project scoped with artist Andy McKeown (company: Wild Strawberry) at that time. The art installation consists of audio - the names of 2,090 people who worked at the Flaxmill in the nineteenth century, recorded on site by 2,090 people and played in a large room from many directional speakers, accompanied by an audiovisual display. The Mill workers were researched by the Friends' archive volunteer.
