Work description
Avon Fire Authority is seeking to award a contract for the outright purchase and fitting of a vehicle Closed Circuit Television system (CCTV) and telemetry to each of the Authority's 34 front line fire appliances.
CCTV and telemetry is required on front line fire appliances as driving is considered to be one of the most significant risks faced by AF&RS due to the large number of vehicle movements and the associated inherent risks. In addition, other benefits identified are:
• Provision of data for the active monitoring of driving standards and to inform our training programme; • Provision of data for the investigation of external or internal complaints about driving standards; • Provision of data for internal, police or insurance investigations following a vehicle incident involving an AF&RS appliance; • The ability to defend or mitigate claims against the Authority and faster claims processing through our insurers to reduce costs; • To deter attacks on firefighters and provide data for any police investigation in the event of such attacks; and • To capture footage of incidents for use in operational learning.
