Description
Phase 2A - New 12 Court Sports Hall. The proposals include the construction of a new 12-badminton court sports hall together with a two-storey accommodation block containing associated changing, storage and plantroom, together with a strength and conditioning gym, totalling a GIFA of approximately 4000sqm. The 9m clear height sports hall is to provide a space to host national level sports events. The 70 x 36m x 11.5m high sports hall building is proposed as a steel portal-framed structure with elevations in a lightweight polycarbonate cladding system and pre-cast concrete facing units. The accommodation block is proposed with pre-cast concrete, timber rainscreen and curtain walling cladding. Phase 2B - Existing Sports Hall and Squash Court building Refurbishment. Subsequent to the completion and opening of the new sports hall, Phase 2b works will be commenced which consist of the remodelling and general refurbishment of the existing Sports Centre building (Grade 2 listed) and squash court building. The outline scope of works is summarised in the layout diagrams, and consists primarily of the conversion of the existing sports hall into a new fitness centre, reconfiguration and refurbishment of the existing changing area and re-roofing of both buildings.
