The General Medical Council \(GMC\) is an independent organisation\. Our purpose is to protect patients and improve medical education and practice across the UK\. When a serious concern is raised about a doctor's behaviour, health or performance, we investigate to see if the doctor is putting the safety of patients, or the public's confidence in doctors, at risk\.
