National Highways Environment Sustainability Division would like to commission further research and development to ensure our understanding of microplastics pollution in road runoff, and other 'new and emerging' contaminants of concern, from the strategic road network (SRN) is up to date, and that the assessment and design guidance standards which we publish and maintain in the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) are robust.
