Work description
Proposals for Brighouse Market are focused on providing improved facilities for traders as well as providing a flexible event space in the centre of the market, with fixed and pop-up stalls. This is set to be achieved by first demolishing the existing market building structure and substructure as well as removing the existing stalls. Existing features such as the existing tiled mural entrance are set to be replaced. The structure will then be made up of combined strip and pad foundations, underneath an RC concrete ground bearing slab. The building is set to be a timber and steel framed structure with a natural stone masonry cavity wall system, with metal wall cladding to internal face. The roof is a proposed profiled galvanised steel roof on timber rafts to the perimeter of the building, with an open top middle section. The proposed surface finish is slab paving to the majority of the building, with a slightly different paving type to the market stalls. New market stall counters, and temporary stalls are proposed as well as new fixtures such as planters and seating to the market area. Please see Appendix F of the ITT for more information.
