Evaluation of EU LIFE Funds in England

LIFE funds are widely used in the UK to support complex or innovative environmental projects. Natural England has estimated that the UK may receive over £200m of LIFE funds from the 2014 - 2020 Funding Period. The Commission recently revealed that the UK is the most successful member state at claiming awarded funds and Natural England have enjoyed a high success rate over the past years.. Following the exit of the UK from the EU, it is likely that the UK will no longer be able to bid for LIFE funding, though the updated regulations do enable non-EU countries to 'pay-as-they-go' to take part in the LIFE programme.
