Description
Via the MOU between DHSC and DEFRA, the University of Bangor has been undertaking R&D work associated with wastewater testing, as part of this R&D they have been receiving wastewater samples for testing. There is a requirement to hold samples in storage and Bangor has been providing this storage for samples it has received (both wastewater and RNA). The contract between Bangor and DEFRA is due to come to an end on 31st May 2021. EMHP are seeking a long-term biobank solution for wastewater and RNA samples - this may come via a procurement exercise, be provided under an MOU with the EA or the samples may be stored at the wastewater Centre of Excellence. Whilst these strategic decisions are made it is necessary to secure short term storage space. Bangor have advised that they are able to continue to store samples at their facilities for a period of six months.
