Work description

The purpose of this tender exercise is to identify and appoint a provider of road-mapping services to deliver a roadmap looking at future opportunities & needs for the UK plastics supply chain, supporting the transition to a circular UK plastics economy.

In this instance a circular plastics economy is an alternative to a traditional linear economy (make, use, dispose) in which plastic is kept in use for as long as possible, the maximum value is extracted from it whilst in use, and it is recovered and regenerated at the end of each service life. It is intended that the roadmap will inform future public and private research and development (R&D) investment in the UK plastics sector by providing:

• Understanding of areas of existing strength/weakness in the circularity of the supply chain • Understanding of potential areas/trends for future development to strengthen the circularity of the supply chain • Strategic recommendations to UK plastics sector stakeholders on the areas/trends that should be a focus for activity and investment, supporting the transition to a circular UK plastics economy.

This tender was advertised under the BIS Research & Evaluation Framework CR150025, LOT 5.
