Road Sweepings 2016

Cheshire West and Chester Council (the Council) is responsible for the mechanical sweeping of streets in the Borough. The materials that are collected by this process, as listed by the EA include – grit, sand, silt, salt (for example from salt spreading), broken glass, water, leaves and other vegetation, small dead animals, oil, heavy metals, diesel and other hydrocarbons from vehicle exhausts (for example from road traffic accidents). This material has the European Waste Catalogue (EWC) classification of 20-03-03 ‘street-cleaning residues. Once treated the material usually has a code of 19-12-12.
