Work description

Haddlesey Bridge requires its abutment and half joint bearings to be replaced by stainless steel bearings. The works will require jacking the bridge to get the existing bearings out. The abutment bearings will need to be removed by breaking out the existing stone wall and concrete abutment as there is approx. a 50mm gap for access, which isn't adequate. The works also require designing temp works for the piers in order to utilise the jacking operations at the half joints. Where the half joints are, there is localised corrosion which will require spot blasting to SA2.5. This will also then require a primer and top coating being applied to the steelwork. On the top side of the bridge, there is works to prep to ST3, prime and repaint the existing parapets, replace the existing 4No. asphaltic plug joints with Type 3/4 joints, replace the entire road surface over the bridge and to replace the deck waterproofing layer, including in the foot verges along the bridge as well. Bridge dimensions approx. 23.5m long by 11m wide.
