## Description

Aston University's Estates and Capital Developments department have a mission to deliver and maintain a sustainable campus and infrastructure that enhances the student experience and provides high quality accommodation and space that is accessible, efficient, flexible and responds to the needs of all its users\. Integral to the ongoing campus redevelopment master plan is the relocation of the Aston Medical School to a new location in the heart of the University campus\. To enable this Aston University wish to procure via competitive tender a Principle Contractor to refurbish the Gosta Green Building to create a new Medical School\. The scope includes the refurbishment of the existing 5 storey building, including fit out, façade treatments, external landscaping, demolition of the students Union as well as infrastructure upgrades\. The Medical School will occupy the east-wing of the existing building whilst the façade of the south and west wings of the existing building will be developed only for future expansion with minimal works to these wings, remaining as shell and core\. On completion the scheme will provide two new lecture theatres, flexible teaching space, supporting accommodation along with modern student social areas\. The existing building has already been stripped back to the structural frame and internally the works comprise the east wing fit out including new internal partitions, finishes, M&E services and coordination of client direct packages such as IT / AV and Furniture installations\. The new Aston Medical School is required for operation for the new academic year in 2019\. As a result, the Medical school is scheduled for handover on 12th June 2019 to allow sufficient time to the University to move in before the new student intake\. There are also two other work streams to be completed, including the demolitions of the old Students Union and the External Works/Landscaping\. The overall practical completion is therefore scheduled for 12th September 2019\.
