Work description

The objective of this Contract is the repair of the Cutthroat Track bridleway (the Bridleway) on the Moscar Estate in the Peak District National Park (the Project). The Work will involve the following sub-objectives: a. To assist the Authority in the production of initial and final Works Specifications for the repair of the Cutthroat Track bridleway through consultation with the Authority and stakeholders. b. To provide a sustainable bridleway route with integrated water management, that protects the moorland landscape and SSSI/SAC habitats, limits recreational disturbance to breeding birds and is befitting of the high profile location. The bridleway must provide an attractive route tailored for a range of users that is sustainable enough to cope with the high visitor pressure that is prevalent on this popular route. c. To provide a hard wearing surface using in-situ material that forms a sustainable and aesthetically appropriate route that integrates well into the landscape, minimizes the visual impact of the bridleway and ensures the route retains its interest and suitability for specific user groups to include walkers, horse riders and mountain bikers. d. To prevent further erosion of the moorland habitat through: i. Providing effective water management on the Bridleway using the topography to best effect to shed water onto the adjacent moorland habitats. ii. Defining and landscaping a definitive route to encourage Bridleway users to stay on the path line and away from the moorland habitats.
