Dual Sensory Loss Awareness Training

Cornwall Council is inviting Tenders who are able to deliver high quality training that enables the Council to excel in its Statutory duties pertaining to people with sensory loss. The aim of this Sensory Loss Awareness training is to enhance the recognition of those with sensory loss, improve capacity to meet the requirements for 'prevention' and enhancing 'wellbeing' and independence and clarifying the referral process.

- Awareness training should take no longer than one day and could be delivered via a 'blended' model (online/face to face) and should require no more than one day face to face.

- It is proposed that learning outcomes for such a programme should be aligned with the following: o Develop an awareness of broad categories of symptoms o Know the main eye conditions o Understand basic communication needs of those with sensory loss o Review options for prevention and rehabilitation (including sign posting and pathways)

- The cohort for this training would be all frontline staff. This constitutes 300 staff over the next three years.
