The provision of health assessment services for Dental Professional to be used in fitness to practise cases

The General Dental Council (GDC) is looking to conduct market engagement with supplier to help develop our Invitation to Tender documents ahead of running a formal procurement exercise.

The GDC is the UK-wide statutory regulator of around 115,000 members of the dental team, including over 42,000 dentists and 73,000 dental care professionals (DCPs) - dental nurses, clinical dental technicians, dental hygienists, dental technicians, dental therapists, and orthodontic therapists.

We are inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified supplier to understand how the market can meet our requirement for health assessment services for Dental Professional to support our fitness to practise cases

The service will facilitate access to a range of appropriately regulated medical examiners / assessors, such as be not limited to: - Specialist Mental Health Psychiatrists - Clinical Psychologists - GPs - Occupational Health Physicians

We are looking for the services to deliver the following :

• Examine dental professionals and prepare written medical reports within an agreed timeframe • Provide an opinion on the Dental Professionals fitness to practice and any recommendations of the case • Review of Medical Records • Provide up-dated medical reports, as required • Attend hearings to present findings and answer questions from the client • Provide assessment & testing • Offer Pre-arranged Collection Service • Sample Analysis per donor (Instant Testing) • Laboratory Confirmation Analysis (per drug) • Hair and Blood Test for Alcohol • Hair Test for Drugs

The service would need to be available on a nationwide basis.

Additional information: The contract value as set out in section 2 are an estimate. The market engagement will information our thinking on this matter. The figures all include VAT.
