Work description

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council seeks to commission specific support for migrants and other vulnerable young people aged 16 - 18 who are not in education, employment or training and have a right to study/work in the UK and live in the Black Country. A key objective of the programme is to prevent participants from becoming NEET in the future.

The cohort will consist of migrants and other young people who have had their education interrupted by a range of issues that could include: seeking refuge, PTSD, emotional and physical traumas, bullying, social and mental trauma and language difficulties; and as result are not ready for the transition to education, training or employment.

The four-day programme will run consecutively for up to 36 weeks and will aim to address some of the barriers and complex social and economic needs faced by some young people.

Participants are expected to enrol onto the programme immediately in readiness for a September 2021 start.

In the event of a Covid-19 lockdown Service Providers must have the capacity to deliver the programme remotely.

Service Providers will be required to engage with participants and provide customised specialist support on a group basis with one-to-one interventions as required.
