Provision of Commercial Shipping Data

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has a need for reliable, comprehensive, and easy-to-use information about the transport services provided or received by the UK shipping fleet, including any goods purchased during, or to support, the provision of transport.

Data is intended to cover ships that are in UK economic ownership or operated by UK companies and over 100 gross tonnes (GT). The ONS wishes to capture data from as many of these vessels that make up the UK shipping fleet as possible. For the purpose of this requirement, the United Kingdom includes Northern Ireland, but excludes the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

Transactions in foreign currency should (as far as possible) be converted to sterling at the exchange rate prevailing at the time of the transaction.
