Farmland Butterflies and Moths MOA

The purpose of this project is to continue the work that Butterfly Conservation (BC) has been doing with Natural England NE) over the past few years to halt and reverse the declines of our most seriously threatened Farmland butterfly and moth species; this is through liaising with NE advisors across the country to get bespoke options for our most threatened S41 lepidoptera incorporated into new and renewed Countryside Stewardship(CS) agreements. This is essential work as advisors do not have the experience or the time to incorporate the specific measures/ options required for these lepidoptera species into their agreements. The BC Project Officer also arranges several training days for NE advisors as well as looking through the CS pipeline to develop a work plan for getting suitable agreement options for lepidoptera in good time and giving advice to advisors as needed. Butterfly Conservation are the largest UK charity devoted to the conservation of our Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths) and NE have been working with them collaboratively in this way for several years already.
